wow a non story, and picked up by the NYtimes who then expands on a non story and quotes a lawyer who does not know what he is talking about. Each state has its own laws in respect to the rights of creditors. In florida you can kiss the judgment sayonara as homestead protection there (along with DC, oklahoma, texas, kansas and a few other states) precludes attaching the debt onto the home, and most pensions and annuities are also unattachable to Florida homesteaders. And they own it long enough to not have to worry about the new BK rules that set up a minimum ownership period to have full protection with such homesteads.
