Who

A facialist to the stars, Martyn runs a salon on Fifth Avenue where she has the honor of popping the zits of the biggest celebrities in town.

Backstory

Martyn spent nearly two decades as a makeup artist, working on fashion shoots first in her native London and then in New York. When she decided to return to beauty school and started out performing facials out of her Brooklyn apartment, many of her fashion contacts, including famed photographer Steven Meisel and John Galliano, became clients. In 2000, Martyn set up her first salon on lower Fifth Avenue. She's since branched out with a line of skincare products, but she continues to attract the A-list thanks to her expertise in microdermabrasion and electronic muscle stimulation.

Of note

Martyn's tended to the faces of Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger, Liv Tyler, Sandra Bullock, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, and Susan Sarandon. Diane von Furstenberg is a devoted fan: She reportedly sees Martyn once a week for re-sculpting facials, which use electrical currents to temporarily shorten facial muscles to lift, firm, and contour the skin. Naturally, Martyn's services don't come cheap—clients shell out $500 for the re-sculpting procedure—but at least her devotees can expect a serene environment while they're having their faces poked and prodded: Martyn hired feng shui guru David Raney, who was responsible for bringing peace and tranquility to Donna Karan's home, to bring harmony to each of the treatment rooms at the salon.

Personal

Martyn's business and romantic partner is Marius Morariu, a Transylvanian native. They live in a townhouse in Carroll Gardens.
