Who
Samantha Boardman Rosen is a licensed psychiatrist and socialite. She's also the wife of real estate kingpin Aby Rosen.
Backstory
Samantha Vivian Munn Boardman grew up in Manhattan, the daughter of financier Dixon Boardman and Pauline Pitt, an interior decorator/heiress and the great-granddaughter of George F. Baker, who founded the financial institution that eventually became Citibank. In something of an anomaly for a social scenester, Samantha didn't cruise through a mediocre college and go to work in fashion or interior design. After graduating Harvard, she decided to pursue a career in medicine and attended Cornell Medical School before becoming a practicing psychiatrist. So should you see her if you're having a mental breakdown? Who knows, but for what it's worth New York magazine did once name her the "Sexiest Shrink" in town. When she's not talking patients off a ledge, she's smiling for the cameras at social events and gala benefits.
Personal
Over the years Samantha dated a string of prominent men—including Graydon Carter, preeminent gold-digger Todd Meister, and former Condé Nast editorial director James Truman—before settling down with German-born real estate tycoon Aby Rosen in 2005. They had their first child in 2006, a boy named Alexander Baker Rosen. (Rosen has two sons, Charlie and Gaby, from his first marriage.) Childbirth didn't slow her down much: She attended the 2006 Costume Institute Gala in a Vera Wang gown just four days after giving birth. In 2007, Samantha popped out another child, Vivian Munn Rosen. The Rosens live in a lavish townhouse on East 80th Street that features dozens of works from Aby's epic collection. They spend summers at their Meadow Lane home in Southampton. They also have a home in St. Barts.
Namedrop
Boardman and Rosen's wedding was a society-studded affair. Following a more intimate ceremony several months earlier on the rooftop of Rosen's Upper East Side townhouse, the couple spared no expense in October 2005 with a Four Seasons blowout. Attendees included Tory Burch, Jennifer Creel, Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer, Marjorie Gubelmann, Daniel Benedict, Andrew Saffir, Bettina Zilkha, Emilia Fanjul, Tinsley Mortimer, Lauren Santo Domingo, Amy Sacco, Renee Rockefeller, Samantha Gregory, Peter Brant, Stephanie Seymour, Ian Schrager, Shoshanna Gruss, and Larry Gagosian. The event was covered in Vogue, but strangely, the spread omitted a photo of the bride and groom.
Family ties
Samantha's sister, Serena Boardman, is a social fixture too. (How to tell the stylish sisters apart: Serena is blonder and taller.) Samantha and Serena's stepmother is Princess Arianna von Hohenlohe Boardman, who happens to be more than 30 years her husband's junior and younger than both of his two daughters.
True story
When Samantha Boardman was in medical school, she didn't care much for the hospital-issued scrubs. Her solution? She dialed up pal Michael Kors and asked him to whip her up a designer hospital uniform.
