Who
Langham is a society decorator best known for his work on Jackie O's Fifth Avenue apartment.
Backstory
An Alabama native, Langham moved to New York to finish college when he was 20, and started his decorating career working for design legend Keith Irvine. It was Irvine who handed Langham many of his "old lady" clients—most notably former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, whose 1040 Fifth Avenue penthouse he spruced up on numerous occasions over the years. Langham's since decorated the homes of a number of older society women in New York, the Hamptons and Palm Beach.
Of note
Langham's clients over the years have included Drue Heinz and William F. Buckley and his late wife, Pat Buckley. (He painted the walls of the Buckleys' Park Avenue spread acid-green, the ceilings black, and outfitted their chairs with spotted leopard-print satin.) But not everyone who hires Langham is an octogenarian: Hilary Swank tapped him to design her West Village townhouse when she was married to Chad Lowe. In addition to his interior design practice, Langham also maintains a 4,000-square-foot showroom on East 60th Street where Jackie O memorabilia can be found in every corner of the room. That's where he operates his design office, too, which the Times described as "oddly reminiscent of the sitcom Designing Women."
Personal
Langham lives in a co-op on East 67th Street, right next door to Bob Guccione's famed mansion. ("Strange comings and goings…I've seen some stuff going in and out of that building!" Langham once said.) He escapes with his boyfriend to a weekend home in Water Mill.
