Who

A commodities trader-turned-DJ-turned-musician-turned-nightlife entrepreneur, Paul was a partner in the now-shuttered Beatrice Inn in the West Village. He's also Chloë Sevigny's big brother.

Backstory

Darien native Sevigny was an exec at Dana Giachetto's Cassandra Group—the money management firm once renowned for catering to A-list stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon—until the firm imploded after it was revealed that Giachetto was lining his pockets with his celebrity clients' cash. (Giachetto subsequently spent nearly three years in the clink.) Sevigny fell into DJing after a friend asked him to play records at a birthday party, which led to a recurring gig at Serena Bass's Serena, the now-defunct boite under the Chelsea Hotel. In 2000, he moved into music management when he decided to rep the newly formed electro-rock band A.R.E. Weapons, whose guitarist Matt McAuley is Chloë's boyfriend. Paul eventually took over as keyboardist.

Of note

Sevigny continues to perform with A.R.E. (They released their last album in 2006.) He also keeps up his DJ career, operating the turntables at parties for Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Nylon magazine. But he's best known these days as a budding nightlife impresario: With partners Andre Saraiva (the Parisian graffiti artist and club promoter) and Matt Abramcyk (co-owner of West Village restaurant Employees Only), Sevigny opened West Village venue the Beatrice Inn in late 2006. Once a hipsteraunt where the likes of Chloë Sevigny and Kai Kuhne would swill drinks with their scenester friends, the venue later ran into a series of legal problems with city and closed its doors in April of 2009. Sevigny and Abramcyk have said they plan to reopen one or two new venues in 2010, although they've been cagey about divulging the details.

Personal

Sevigny, who lives on East 7th Street, seems to have a thing for English accents: Exes include Brit novelist Emma Forrest (who dumped him due to his unhealthy obsession with Bret Easton Ellis's novel American Psycho) and Bay Garnett, the London-based stylist and editor of cult magazine Cheap Date.
