The owner of the Madison Avenue salon that bears his name, Blandi also oversees a line of hair care products.

Backstory

Styling hair seems to runs in the Blandi family. Oscar's father practiced the very same profession, albeit on considerably less glamorous people: He was a barber in his native city of Naples. Oscar moved to New York in 1988 with the intention of staying in town a month. He remained, of course, and spent time working at a series of top salons, including Peter Coppola, Frédéric Fekkai and Pierre Michel. In 1996, Blandi headed out on his own. Today he oversees a staff of more than a dozen stylists and colorists, including his brother, Luca, who works as a stylist. Coincidentally enough, Blandi's outpost at 746 Madison Avenue is housed at the same location as Blandi's very first styling job, back when it was the Peter Coppola Salon.

Blandi has tended to the tresses of Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Renee Zellweger, Salma Hayek, Charlize Theron, Faith Hill, Heather Graham, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Ripa, Monica Bellucci, Rosario Dawson, and Jessica Alba. Tom Cruise personally summoned Blandi to L.A. to cut Katie Holmes's hair. Reportedly, the actor stood nearby and gave Blandi instructions.

Personal

Blandi's girlfriend is Gina Bertolotti, who works at the salon, too. He lives on the Upper East Side and escapes to Orange County on the weekends with his dog, Diana. The 3,300-square-foot house, which overlooks Greenwood Lake, is close to Derek Jeter's property.

No joke

A few years ago, Blandi set up a stylist at the East 34th Street heliport to give 15-minute fluff-ups to the chopper-to-the-Hamptons crowd.
