Who
A longtime Upper East Side social fixture and former model, Griscom is the daughter of Elizabeth Rohatyn, wife of financier Felix Rohatyn.
Backstory
Griscom grew up in Manhattan and attended Miss Porter's and Barnard College before embarking on a modeling and acting career. (Among her credits: She appeared in a Gillette "Bare Elegance" commercial clad only in a towel.) Fame never quite followed, but she fared a good deal better on the dating front. She married rich and quickly became a fixture on the city's benefit and gala circuit. Over the past two decades, Griscom has dabbled a bit in broadcasting—she co-hosted a show on the Food Network entitled Dining Around with food critic Alan Richman during the 1990s. But she's since turned her attention to retail, and maintains an eponymous storefront on 70th and Lexington where she sells such items as her own line of scented candles, rather appropriately named "Revenge," "Flirt," and "Sultry."
Family ties
In 1980, her mom married investment banker Felix Rohatyn, who served as U.S. Ambassador to France during the Clinton administration. Felix is the father of Nicolas Rohatyn, who married gallerist Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn in 1997.
Personal
The man-eating Griscom has never lacked in the romance department and is currently on her fourth husband. Her first husband was her modeling agent, Joe Hunter; after the two split, she married and divorced Lloyd Griscom, a grandson of a former U.S. ambassador to Italy. Several years later, Nina ignited a small scandal among Upper East Side society types when she stepped out on her third husband, Dr. Dan Baker, and embarked upon a very public affair with Palm Beach sugar billionaire Pepe Fanjul, the father of Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler. (The affair was also reported to have prompted Baker's subsequent suicide attempt.) The fling didn't last long and Fanjul soon went back to his wife. Griscom, for her part, later divorced Baker and took up with a former La Goulue waiter-turned-real estate broker at Prudential Douglas Elliman named Leonel Piraino. She married Piraino, who's Argentinean, during the summer of 2007 in a ceremony officiated by David Dinkins. With ex-husband Daniel, Griscom is the mother of a daughter named Lily.
Habitat
Griscom and Piraino live on the Upper East Side with her two dogs, India and Squid. The self-professed animal lover has stocked her home with a stuffed crocodile, taxidermied tortoises, a collection of ivory jewelry and countless leopard pelts. She also has a weekend home in Millbrook, NY.
No joke
The uptown girl is a huge fan of the decidedly down-market Popeye's fried chicken chain and took a New York Times reporter to one in 2003. (She suggested serving haricots verts as a side dish.) She also confessed to one other vice—raging at her fellow New Yorkers—a habit she says she combats with the help of Zoloft.
