Who

A social fixture and fashion designer, Lucy Sykes Rellie is the twin sister of Plum Sykes, the author of Bergdorf Blondes.

Backstory

A native of the U.K., Lucy arrived in the U.S. in 1996 and worked as a fashion editor at Town & Country, Harpers Bazaar and, finally, as fashion director at Marie Claire. Like many in her social circle, she used her media connections to launch a fashion line, founding Lucy Sykes New York in 2005. The company started out selling pricey duds for the under-three set—$75 baby bikinis and $180 taffeta dresses—and soon grabbed attention thanks to its celebrity clientele (Reese Witherspoon, Catherine Zeta Jones, Liv Tyler, Rachel Roy, Jessica Seinfeld). In 2005, Sykes tried to expand with a women's line, but she's since refocused on children's clothing and launched a collection of kids footwear in partnership with Stride Rite in 2007. She's also introduced a lower-priced children's line available at stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's.

Family ties

Lucy is one of six kids. Her (non-identical) twin is Bergdorf Blondes author Plum Sykes. There's also Tom, who used to be a reporter for the Post and authored a book about being an alcoholic. (He now lives in Ireland.) Younger sister Alice works for Lucy's company; there are also two other brothers, Josh and Fred.

Personal

Sykes is married to party fixture and banker Euan Rellie; in addition to heading up his own financial firm, he's also the chairman of Lucy Sykes New York. They have two sons—Heathcliff Felix Alastair Euan and Titus Jasper Jake Icarus—and live in a townhouse in the West Village.
