Who
Barlow is one half of Barlow-Hartman, one of the most powerful PR firms on Broadway. He's also the longtime partner of uber-producer Scott Rudin.
Backstory
Barlow worked at the powerhouse Broadway PR shop Boneau Bryan-Brown (the firm operated by Chris Boneau and Adrian Bryan Brown) for close to a decade until heading out on his own in 1999, partnering with fellow BBB employee Michael Hartman to open Barlow-Hartman. The duo picked up The Scarlet Pimpernel—which had previously been repped by Boneau Bryan-Brown—as their first client. They've since represented more than 100 Broadway and off-Broadway shows including Grease, Sweet Charity, The Pillowman, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Legally Blonde, Company and, perhaps most lucratively, The Producers. (Of course, not all Barlow and Hartmann's shows have been hits—the 2001 musical The Bells Are Ringing was a horrific dud.) In 2006, Barlow earned his first production credit for Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking, along with Rudin and a number of other investors.
Personal
Barlow has been involved with Rudin since 1998. They live in the San Remo on the Upper West Side. Other neighbors include Ray McGuire, Diane Keaton, and Jimmy Nederlander Jr.
