Who

Ward is a doe-eyed Australian reality show contestant turned top-tier fashion model.

Backstory

Ward was discovered at a 2002 casting call for Search for a Supermodel in her hometown of Perth, Australia. Allegedly just tagging along with friends, the 14-year-old Ward auditioned, made it into the top 20 and was later picked to star on the show. A swimwear exec caught one of her appearances and immediately hired the teen for a campaign. She went on to Australian fashion week, after which she signed with Ivan Bart's IMG and began traveling the world. She made the cover of both W and Vogue in 2004.

Of note

Ward has walked the runways for Anna Sui, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Carolina Herrera, and done campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana. She's also the face of Kose cosmetics, an enormously popular line of makeup in Japan. Already on her way to adding the dreaded "/actress" to her resume, she filmed a feature entitled The Black Balloon in Australia in 2007, and appeared in scary movie The Strangers alongside Liv Tyler in 2008.

Keeping score

Ward reportedly pulls down $10,000 to $20,000 per runway show and made $3 million from ad campaigns and appearances in 2006.

Personal

Ward is single, but was reportedly seeing Heath Ledger at the time of his tragic demise. She lives in a three-bedroom apartment overlooking a garden in the East Village, for which she paid $1.525 in May 2007. Her sister Sophie is also a model (although not nearly as well known) who's walked in shows for Valentino.
