Who

Former Drew Barrymore flame Moretti is the curly-haired, chain-smoking drummer for The Strokes.

Backstory

Moretti gets his celeb-landing looks from his Brazilian and Italian parents. Born in Rio, Moretti moved to New York with his family when he was a child, eventually enrolling in the private school Dwight, where he met future bandmates Julian Casablancas and Nick Valensi. The Strokes—also comprised of guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and bassist Nikolai Fraiture—became Mercury Lounge fixtures in the late 1990s, and their lo-fi post-punk sound earned them obligatory "saviors of rock" notices from critics. The Strokes' first album, Is This It, was released in October 2001 and was a massive critical and commercial success.

While the band probably still has another hit left in them, it's unlikely The Strokes will ever eclipse their white-hot first record. Since their early 00s heyday, they've released two albums—2003's Room on Fire and 2006's First Impressions of Earth—which received solid reviews but failed to match Is This It's commercial success.

Personal

Moretti had an on-again, off-again relationship with Drew Barrymore between 2002 and 2006; they reportedly broke up because the drummer wasn't ready to start a family. Moretti has since been linked to Kirsten Dunst, but that romance also fizzled, supposedly because the sensitive Moretti wouldn't sleep with her as he wasn't over Barrymore.

Habitat

He owns a condo in the East Village's American Felt building, the same building that Strokes manager Ryan Gentles lives in.
