Who

A local news fixture, Anastos has been delivering the headlines for one NYC station or another for three decades.

Backstory

The New Hampshire native attended Northeastern before landing a gig at Providence's WPRI in 1976. In 1978, he decamped to New York to take the anchor spot at WABC's Eyewitness News; he stayed with the network until 1989, when he joined WCBS as the anchor at five and eleven. In 1997, Anastos moved once again, this time to WWOR where he anchored the news until 2001, at which point he bounced back to WCBS. In 2005, Anastos moved to his current resting place, WNYW, where he is now partnered up with Rosanna Scotto, who calls him her "TV husband." He was lured to Fox 5 with a $10 million, five-year contract.

On the side

Anastos has acquired a number of small radio stations over the years, creating something of a mini-empire in upstate New York. His Anastos Media Group controls stations like WQAR, WUAM, WVKZ and WMVI in places like Saratoga Springs and Schenectady.

For the record

Anastos is a hero to the city's Greek community, which is why you'll find his glossy headshot hanging at many a Greek diner around town. A very visible spokesman for Greek-Americans, Anastos hosted Fox's broadcast of the Greek parade in 2007, the first time the event had been televised.

Personal

He and his wife Kelly, a former teacher, have two children (Nina and Phillip) and live in Armonk.
