Who

A staple at high society events, Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler until recently operated the PR firm Emilia Fanjul Communications.

Backstory

Emilia is the daughter of Emilia and Jose "Pepe" Fanjul, the Cuban sugar baron and Republican fundraiser who founded the Florida-based sugar conglomerate, Flo-Sun. (It's one of the largest sugar manufacturers in the U.S.) Born and raised in Palm Beach, Emilia attended Boston College before setting up her own PR firm. (Her clients included Alvin Valley, Douglas Hannant, Intermix, and KC Thompson.) In February 2007, following the birth of her son, Emilia decided to shut down the firm. She's available for freelance consulting, though, in case you're interested in planning an elaborate charity fashion show in the near future.

Personal

Emilia married banker Brian Pfeifler in 2002 after they met at a party thrown by Diane von Furstenberg. Photos of the lavish wedding—held at the 7,000 acre luxury resort her family partially owns in the Dominican Republic—were included in Kalliope Karella's book Weddings of Style: A Guide to the Ultimate Wedding. The couple lives in a Park Avenue apartment and has a home in Palm Beach.

True story

Emilia's father, Pepe, was the subject of much chatter in social circles a number of years ago, after he fell for the notorious man-eater Nina Griscom. He eventually ditched Griscom and returned to Emilia's mother, but the affair led to the breakup of Griscom's marriage to super-surgeon Dan Baker.
