Who
A longtime socialite, Ann Dexter-Jones is perhaps best known as the mother of night creatures Mark, Charlotte, and Samantha Ronson.
Backstory
Ann was born in Southport (it's near Liverpool) and spent her teenage years at rock clubs in London, before landing a job designing clothes for the Through the Looking Glass, a boutique owned by Paul McCartney's brother. She settled down with Lawrence Ronson, a prominent London real estate developer, and had three kids: Mark, Charlotte, and Samantha. After divorcing Ronson, Ann married Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones, and moved to New York with her new husband and young kids in the early '80s. She's spent the years since hosting parties, attending functions, and dabbling in various projects such as designing the Noel Ashman 14th Street hotspot, The Plumm, where her son regularly DJs. She recently launched a jewelry range and is also at work on a novel—or so she says—a hobby she describes as "my very great pleasure."
Family ties
Dexter-Jones's kids have all made names for themselves thanks in no small part to her copious social connections. Mark is a DJ and producer; Samantha, who lives in LA, is also a DJ; Samantha's twin, Charlotte, is a fashion designer. Dexter-Jones also has two children from her marriage to Mick: Alexander and Annabelle.
Pet cause
If your baby gets sick and you end up at Mount Sinai's pediatric ICU, you might bump into Dexter-Jones. She's a "Reiki master" and volunteers at the hospital, helping to "heal" sick children. (Alas, the Reiki has not yet managed to relieve Dexter-Jones of her smoking habit.)
