A rising star on the social scene, Bryan is an editor at Vanity Fair and the daughter of Shelby Bryan, the boyfriend of Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Backstory

Born in Houston, Alexis is the daughter of Shelby Bryan, the telecommunications exec who minted a small fortune when he founded one of the first cell phone companies in the 1980s. It wasn't her dad's money that vaulted Alexis into the social swirl, though; it was his courtship of Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Amid much tabloid hubbub, both Wintour and Bryan left their respective spouses in the late 1990s. They've been together ever since and although the couple has yet to tie the knot, Alexis is, for all intents and purposes, Wintour's stepdaughter, a position that has provided her with easy entrée to the upper echelons of fashion, media, and society. In the span of a few short years, the eager scenester has gone from Vanity Fair intern to executive fashion editor (leapfrogging a handful of longstanding staffers in the process) and become a regular at A-list social events around town.

Personal

Bryan is married to Observer writer Spencer Morgan. They had their first child, a daughter named Ada, in October 2008 and live near Gramercy Park.
