Murdoch Re-Lists, Julia Roberts Rents in the Village
• Rupert Murdoch's Centre Island estate is back on the market. The 11-bedroom Rosehearty mansion, which Murdoch and wife Wendi Deng pulled off the market last October, has been re-listed with Dolly Lenz for $12.8 million. The five-acre estate isn't sitting empty while the couple wait for a buyer, though: As Newsday first reported back in April—and as this week's New York confirms—Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are renting it for more than $100,000 a month. [NYM, PDE]
• Norman Reedus—the actor, model, and father of Helena Christensen's son Mingus—has paid $1.75 million for a two-bedroom loft in the Machinery Exchange building at 136 Baxter St. [Cityfile]
• Julia Roberts is renting two apartments at 1 Morton Square this summer while she's in NYC to film Eat, Pray, Love. She's reportedly paying a combined $50,000-a-month for the two pads, one of which is for her nanny and staff. [P6]More

Google Wife Still Determined to Get Your DNA
Remember last year's Fashion Week party for Anne Wojcicki (Mrs. Sergey Brin) and Linda Avey's gene-testing site 23andme.com, where the likes of Ivanka Trump touted their newly-discovered genetic blessedness while other attendees spit into test tubes to enjoy the scientific equivalent of a palm reading? While spending money to find out that your shortness is hereditary, or that you'll go bald at 35 then succumb to heart disease at 50, isn't likely to be high on people's priority list during a recession, the company, which is backed by Wendi Deng and Harvey Weinstein, is still going. It is, however, employing some ingenious/desperate new marketing tactics. More

Graydon's New School: Not as Glamorous as We'd Hoped
The Post's Andrea Peyser stopped by the Greenwich Village High School this weekend, the new private school backed by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, the mag's deputy editor, Aimee Bell, and actor John Leguizamo. Peyser is predictably outraged by the "selective, pretentious and pricey high school" and its proposed curriculum: "The plan is for kids to rub elbow pads with Carter-friendly Pulitzer Prize-winners. Students will learn about artifacts from a Museum of the City of New York curator, and Mandarin from random residents of Chinatown, all for an eye-popping $34,729 a year." Hold on for a moment. Random residents of Chinatown? That sounds awfully populist! Were Wendi Deng or Vera Wang unavailable? Next we'll hear that they're planning to hire regular gym teachers to teach PE classes instead of having Marc Jacobs lead students in daily workout sessions. A few months ago, The Daily put together a possible curriculum for the school and list of potential faculty members. Click here to see the larger version and consider the glam school that could have been.
Parties

Designing Woman | Wendi Deng's 40th birthday party took place last night at the Gramercy Park Hotel. Pianist Lang Lang performed, and Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Billy Joel, Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg supposedly made appearances. One person who wasn't there: Rupert's 99-year-old mother, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, who doesn't appear to be the biggest fan of her daughter-in-law. In an interview with The Age over the weekend, she described her reaction to the news that her son was planning to split up with his second wife:More

Mark Your Calendars: Wendi Deng's Birthday Party | Next Monday is Wendi Deng's birthday, just in case you're looking for something fun to add to your datebook or you happen to be a close, personal friend and you've yet to pick up a suitable gift. So what does the notoriously demanding third wife of Rupert Murdoch have planned for the big event? "According to a source with knowledge of the planning, the Murdochs have booked the top floor of the Gramercy Park Hotel, where their guests will include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg, Billy Joel, and Arianna Huffington. A portion of the six-figure budget went towards booking the Chinese pianist Lang Lang to play a 20-minute set." [Portfolio]

A Guide to Old Men and Their Much Younger Wives
Two weeks ago the news surfaced that Viacom chief Sumner Redstone and his second wife, Paula Fortunato, were divorcing after five years of marriage. Much was made of Redstone and Fortunato's 39-year age gap and the couple's pre-nup, which will provide Fortunato with a $5 million fortuno for the five years she spent by the not-so-healthy billionaire's side. But she's hardly the only one who has been married to someone who could easily pass for her father or granddad. After the jump, a list of famous New York couples and their equally famous age gaps. Would You Trust Your DNA to These People?
Would you let your DNA end up on a database controlled by Anne Wojcicki, the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who has financial backing from Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng and Harvey Weinstein? The glam crowd at a Fashion Week "spit party" thrown by 23andme.com—which offers testing to reveal ancestry, genetic traits and propensity to diseases—had no qualms, perhaps confident of their genetic superiority: Ivanka Trump, for instance, was delighted to discover she didn't have fat genes (unlike one of her less fortunate friends).
