Remember those reports last week that Marc Jacobs had decided to appear on a gay version of Real Housewives on Logo called Kept? The rumor got off the ground, it seems, when the Daily News noticed an item about the show on Gawker alongside a photo of Jacobs and boyfriend Lorenzo Martone. Despite the fact the piece didn't actually suggest Jacobs was involved in the show in any way, the mere presence of a photo of Jacobs on the same page as a story about a gay reality TV show led the Daily News to publish an item a couple of days later that the designer had "reportedly signed on to participate." Naturally, the story was soon picked up by dozens of gossip outlets as if it were a done deal. Too bad the News didn't bother to call anyone to check (or even reread the story on Gawker). As hard as it may be to imagine, rumors have been floating around in recent days that social queen Tinsley Mortimer and her estranged husband, Topper, are now looking to reconcile. Crazy, huh? The evidence in favor of such an outlandish theory: Tinsley's German prince hasn't been seen by his new girlfriend's side at the dozens of events that the Tinz has attended during Fashion Week, but she has allegedly been seen in the company of Topper since returning from her European jaunt. The evidence against: Despite a report in New York a couple of weeks ago suggesting that Topper "hasn't entirely abandoned " the idea that Tinsley will come back to him, he's been "making the rounds" with Vogue editor Valerie Boster in recent days. Elle Probably Not Changing Hands, Probably Not Infected With Swine Flu | The Post's Keith Kelly reported today that Elle's parent company has been in discussions to turn over a stake in the magazine to Hearst. Could to be true? For what it's worth, a Hachette spokeswoman tells the Observer there's "no truth" to the report. And while we were hoping that Joe Zee might be able to shed some light on the situation, he seems to be preoccupied with whether or not he has swine flu. Only time will tell if a deal for Elle is in the works. In the meantime, though, feel free to a little prayer for Zee. Catching swine flu five weeks before Fashion Week? That could be tragic. Dash Snow Dead? | Gawker is reporting that hipster artist/photographer Dash Snow died of a heroin overdose last night, and messages posted to Twitter by some of Snow's friends seem to back it up. There hasn't been official confirmation yet. In the meantime, though, you can read more about Snow here, if you're interested. Update: The Times has confirmed Snow's death. New Home for Tom and Katie? | Did Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes just plunk down $15.5 million to purchase the townhouse at 42 West 12th Street? That's what the Village Voice's Runnin' Scared blog is suggesting, although there's isn't any firm proof yet: The seller isn't talking, and both Holmes's publicist and Cruise's lawyer have issued denials (not that their refutations mean much). If you live nearby, don't let the lack of confirmation interfere with your fantasies of occasional Suri sightings and surly paparazzi camped out in the hood at all hours of the day and night. Gisele and Tom Expecting? | No one's uterus gets quite as much attention as the one attached to Gisele Bundchen, which is why you've probably seen about a thousand tabloid stories about her being pregnant—or not being pregnant—over the past few months. Us Weekly is wading back into it this afternoon, reporting that "multiple sources" have confirmed that the supe and husband Tom Brady are expecting their first child together. Could this be the one? Let's hope so. This may be our best shot at ensuring that Kate & Jon finally get kicked off the covers of celeb tabloids sometime this summer. [Us Weekly]

Gisele Pregnant? | According to the National Enquirer's sister publication, RadarOnline.com, Gisele Bundchen is with child. She doesn't look like she's carrying Tom Brady's spawn, at least judging by recent photos. But digging through celebrities' trash for their used home pregnancy kits can occasionally pay off, so who knows. You're more than welcome to speculate for yourself after looking at a few pics of the supermodel below.More

We were a little concerned when a tipster emailed us to point out that the website for Kelly Cutrone's fashion PR firm, People's Revolution, had been "suspended." "Did they go out of business or something?" No, thankfully, that is not the case. A call to the firm ("Good morning, People's Revolution!") confirms Kelly is still doing her thing. (She also happens to be hiring, too. So, if anything, it appears Cutrone is in expansion mode.) She would be well advised, though, to bring in a techie to fix whatever is wrong with the site. If she leaves it up to one of the Whitney Port-like girls in the office to fix, it could take months to sort out! 

Is Chelsea Planning a Wedding? | The always reliable National Enquirer is reporting that Chelsea Clinton plans to tie the knot with boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky "in a lavish $1 million dream wedding" this summer. Of course, she hasn't even announced she's engaged yet, so you may want to take this news with a grain of salt. But you'll be happy to hear that the timing is "perfect" now that Chelsea's mom is "settling into her position as secretary of state," and Marc's father, former Iowa congressman Ed Mezvinsky, "has been released from a halfway house after serving time for investment fraud." Tinsley and Topper's Mini Cash Crunch | Blogger ChiChi212 says that Tinsley Mortimer turned up at Pastis over the weekend with her on-again, off-again husband Topper in tow, but Tinz's credit card went missing—gasp!—and they had no way to get home, so "the bartender had to give them $20 from the bar so they could take a cab." This supposes Tinsley carries a single credit card in her oversized wallet and that Topper carries no money of his own, but before you go and dismiss it as a silly rumor, you're more than welcome to take a moment to savor the thought. Scarborough in Jeopardy? | Is Chuck Scarborough's tenure at WNBC coming to an end in the near future? He's been at the station for 35 years now, but Gawker reports his reported $3 million-a-year salary may be too rich for the local station, and it may be seeking to buy him out of his contract. In the meantime, a WNBC rep is denying the story: "He is not being bought out. Chuck is a big part of our station." [Gawker]

Was Tinsley Mortimer's nearly two-month absence from the social scene because of her reported split with husband Topper, or because she took some time off for a touch up? We have no idea, but a tipster seems pretty convinced: "It's a classic move. The change in hair/skin is intended to distract you from the fact she had work done. Surprised you guys missed that." The news that Luke Janklow and his wife Julie were divorcing first surfaced two weeks ago, and last week the couple's townhouse hit the market for $24.95 million. But the literary agent to the rich and famous (such as Anderson Cooper and Gwyneth Paltrow) hasn't been sitting at home mourning the dissolution of his marriage. We hear that Janklow is now dating Jessica Joffe, the flame-tressed social scenester and occasional model/writer who was famously involved with singer Ryan Adams until last year. More

Considering Barack Obama offered the job of Surgeon General to CNN's Sanjay Gupta, it's only to be expected that some equally surprising political appointments would get bandied about. Here's another one you can add to the list: Rumor has it that Obama is thinking about naming Anna Wintour as his ambassador to England or France, at least according to the "extremely insider rumors" picked up by Fashion Week Daily. Excellent choice! Not only will it go a long way to restoring America's reputation on the European continent, it will functions as the perfect exit strategy for Anna as Vogue continues its downward descent!
