Q&A

Summer Vacation Plans, Fashion Edition

Over the past couple of weeks, Cityfile correspondent Douglas Marshall has asked a few figures in fashion about their plans for the summer. What Chanel Iman, Fern Mallis, Thom Browne, Minnie Mortimer Gaghan, and Bonnie Morrison had to say below.

Model and co-host of MTV's House of Style
Q: What are you doing this summer, Chanel?
A: I'm still trying to decide what I want to do. I just had an amazing vacation in La Jolla, California and it was crazy. It was me and my best friend—I brought her along with me. We went paragliding in the sky and it was so much fun. So I want to do something crazy and wild. Like jump out of a plane or something.
Q: Are you an adrenaline junkie?
A: I guess you could say I'm an adventurist.More

No Neighborly Love for the Olsens

  • It's no fun living near Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Neighbors in the West Village say the two are "spoiled brats" since they have bodyguards posted outside their apartment on West 13th Street who make neighbors get off the stoop whenever the twins are arriving home, and the twins keep SUVs idling in front of the building for hours at a time. TMI

Thanks for Sharing, Minnie | It's a proud day for Stephen Gaghan, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Syriana and Traffic: His wife (and Tinsley's sister-in-law) Minnie Mortimer confides that his underwear-fussiness inspired the boxer shorts in her fledgling clothing line: "He had very specific rules for his—elastic must be covered, shorts must have top button to open, not too slouchy so they fit into pants, and on and on." Looks like the husbands in Minnie and Stephen's circle can look forward to some very comfy and supportive birthday gifts! [Paper]

Minnie Mortimer Goes Retail

122576It's a big day for bi-coastal socialite Minnie Mortimer—sister of Topper, sister-in-law of Tinsley, and wife of Oscar-winning filmmaker Stephen Gaghan. She's joining the ranks of fellow socialigners Tory Burch and Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss and launching her very own eponymous clothing line. Unlike Tory and Shoshanna, though, Minnie's line isn't available in any stores yet. For the moment, her collection can only be found on her own website, where Minnie saved on production costs by modeling her wares personally. (Well, except for the $30 boxer shorts.) Just how Minnie found the time to handle the responsibilty of coming up with a six-piece collection remains a mystery. She says much of her precious time is devoted to her two dogs, Fuzzy Duck and Charlie Bear, and the "search for the perfect surf break." You can do it, Minnie! With that sort of work ethic, you could very well become the most famous Mortimer in no time.
