Fran Lebowitz Will Not Be Tweeting Today | It's a good thing that author Fran Lebowitz is so tight with editor/restaurateur Graydon Carter that she can walk into Monkey Bar (or the Waverly Inn) without a reservation and get a table a moment's notice. If she had to use the phone—or Monkey Bar's email reservations system—she'd be in serious trouble. WWD asked her if Lebowitz if she spent any time using Twitter or Facebook and this is what she had to say:More

Barry Diller and Fran Lebowitz Aren't Worried | So what does Barry Diller have to say about the meltdown on Wall Street? "I think it's great, I think it should happen every day," he told a reporter from the Observer at a party for Graydon Carter's new book on Monday night, before adding that he was just joking. Fran Lebowitz's take: "Just when you think how horrible New York has become in terms of things interfering with the tone of the city, they're finally leaving!" she said. Who is "they" exactly? "The rich people! They're leaving!" Careful, Fran. If all the rich people leave town, you'll have no one to pick up your tab at the Waverly Inn every night. [NYO]

Fashion Week Highlights: Day Four

128772♦  At Marc Jacobs, there were lots of celebs like Helena Christensen, Elijah Wood, Nicole Richie, Stephanie Seymour, Kelly Osbourne, Sofia Coppola, Winona Ryder, and Jennifer Lopez, and the elaborate, adventurous, world travel-inspired clothes got high marks—but all of the above was entirely eclipsed by the presence of Posh Spice's new gamine haircut. [WWD, Telegraph, Hello]

♦  This Fashion Week, the designers are under strict instructions from CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg to start on time, instead of the usual 45 minutes late, but at Carolina Herrera, there was no choice but to keep the audience (Graydon Carter, Fran Lebowitz, Anna Wintour, André Leon Talley, Venus Williams, Fern Mallis, Ivana Trump, socialites galore) waiting until Herrera's longtime muse Renee Zellweger arrived. But all ended well when ALT declared the show "extraordinary" and "breathtaking." [NYDN, Wireimage, NYO] More

2) Further downtown mayhem surrounded the opening of the Nike sportswear store at 21 Mercer Street: Giant electronic billboards and a marching band heralded the arrival of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, and Serena Williams, who were joined by Mark Ronson (who DJed), Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Spike Lee, Katy Perry, Richie Akiva, Q-Tip, Justin Theroux, Alan Cumming, Cory Kennedy, Lily Cole, Alexander Wang, and many others. 2) Also on Tuesday, Elvis's granddaughter Riley Keough and famous elf Elijah Wood were the hosts of a fundraiser at Milk Studios in the meatpacking district for The Art of Elysium, a charity that connects artists with sick children. Danny Masterson, Ann Dexter-Jones, Alexander Dexter-Jones, Michael Hilfiger, Zoe Kravitz, Genevieve Jones, Amy Sacco, Tara Subkoff, and Agyness Deyn—sans Albert Hammond Jr., possibly because his ex May Andersen was there?—all peered at silkscreens of Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Lou Reed.
