Cityfile: New York's Most Notable and Influential

• The four-story Soho townhouse that Kate Hudson currently rents (but does not own) is up for sale and now available at a discount. The 4,136-square-foot property located at 43 King Street, which comes with four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, four fireplaces and a private garden in the back, first went on the market in November 2008 for $6.25 million. • Publishing entrepreneur Win McCormack has put his apartment at 170 East End Avenue on the market less than a year after he bought it for $8.75 million. The four-bedroom apartment with 1,600-square-foot terrace overlooking Gracie Mansion and the East River is currently listed for $10.5 million. [Curbed, Corcoran]
• Mark Brashear, who heads up Hugo Boss in the US, has paid $3.2 million for a 2,793-square-foot condo at 60 Beach Street in Tribeca. [Real Deal]

Björk and Matthew Barney have put their West Houston Street apartment up for sale now that the couple is relocating to Brooklyn Heights. But that's not the only property the quirky Icelandic singer and avant-garde artist are looking to dispose of, it seems. Björk's home in Snedens Landing, the tiny hamlet in Rockland County overlooking the Hudson River, is also available to buy ($1.8 million) or rent ($7,000 a month). Needless to say, you can't find a "formal" dining room constructed out of stone and decorated with hard-carved wooden furniture and reindeer antlers just anywhere. [Real Estalker]

• Billy Joel is looking for a buyer in Sagaponack. Now that he and wife Katie Lee Joel are splitting up, the singer is planning to sell the two oceanfront properties he bought for her in 2007. The four-bedroom mansion (No. 1) and smaller beach bungalow (No. 2) will be listed with Corcoran's Biana Stepanian for a combined $35 million. [NYP]
• Richard Bressler, the former CFO of Viacom and now a managing director at the private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners, went into contract to sell his duplex at 850 Park last month. Now he's picked up a new place. Bressler paid $7.15 million for a four-bedroom condo at 170 East End Avenue. [Cityfile]
• Mariann Florio, the widow of former Condé Nast CEO Steve Florio, has paid $1.65 million for a three-bedroom apartment at 235 East 73rd Street owned by former Bear Stearns exec Leo Tilman. She's still trying to sell her vacation home in Key Largo, Florida, which has been on the market for $8.9 million since last October. [Cityfile]

After testing out the waters ever so briefly last November, Nicolas Cage has put his five-bedroom apartment at the Olympic Tower back on the market for $9.75 million, reports the Observer's Max Abelson. Shag carpets and a gleaming black marble bathroom: How could anyone resist, really? [NYO]

• Emmy-winning actress Kristen Johnston is selling her West Village duplex. The two-bedroom condo at 296 West 10th Street, which comes with solarium and terrace, "custom window treatments," and "Ralph Lauren carpet in the den," hit the market for $1.795 million late last week. [Cityfile, Corcoran]
• Retired Continental Airlines CEO Gordon Bethune has paid $5.882 million for a third-floor apartment at The Beresford on Central Park West. The three-bedroom pad had been listed for $6.95 million most recently. [Cityfile]
• Dr. Gary Roubin, Lenox Hill's chief of interventional cardiology, has re-listed the carriage house at 168 East 73rd Street he went into contract to sell in May. The deal fell through earlier this month, so now the 6,800-square-foot home is back on the market for $16.5 million. [Cityfile, SSNYC]

New Home for Tom and Katie? | Did Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes just plunk down $15.5 million to purchase the townhouse at 42 West 12th Street? That's what the Village Voice's Runnin' Scared blog is suggesting, although there's isn't any firm proof yet: The seller isn't talking, and both Holmes's publicist and Cruise's lawyer have issued denials (not that their refutations mean much). If you live nearby, don't let the lack of confirmation interfere with your fantasies of occasional Suri sightings and surly paparazzi camped out in the hood at all hours of the day and night. Keith Olbermann already lives at the Trump Palace on East 69th Street: He paid $4.2 million for a 2,100-square foot, three-bedroom apartment on the building's 40th floor in 2007. But that's clearly not enough space for the MSNBC host: Two weeks ago, Olbermann paid $810,000 for a 7th floor apartment in the same building. Guest quarters for out-of-town visitors? An abode for his cleaning lady? More

Mel Gibson is about to go through a messy divorce, which explains why in recent weeks he's slashed nearly $10 million off the price of his vast estate in Greenwich. Originally priced at $39.5 million, the 15,800-square-foot "Elizabethan-inspired Tudor mansion" is now available for $29.75 million. The 75-acre property comes with lots of extras, including a terraced pool, tennis court, greenhouse, stable, staff houses, log cabin and stream-fed pond. The downside? Unless prospective bidders happen to be devoutly Catholic or just die-hard fans of The Da Vinci Code, they'll have to plan on spending millions more freshening up the spooky, church-like home. Padma Lakshmi is no longer the owner of a spacious, full-floor loft at 211 East 2nd Street. The author and TV hostess has turned the apartment over to what we're guessing is a personal trust, considering it was sold to something called "The Delicious Trust" for the pricely sum of $0. (Delicious, indeed!) Lakshmi purchased the loft in early 2008 for $1.65 million; in addition to spectacular views from north, west and east exposures, it also features a "wonderful windowed cook's kitchen with butternut cabinetry, basalt countertops and modern appliances." • Rihanna is close to signing an $18,000-a-month lease for a penthouse at 92 Greene Street. Originally listed at $22,000 a month, the 2,300-square-foot pad comes with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a sitting room, and a 500-square-foot terrace. [NYP, PDE]

Natalie Portman Plants Roots in LA | Natalie Portman closed on the sale of her Charles Street condo a few months ago. And if you're prepared to believe what the Star is reporting this week, she's currently getting it on with a newly single Sean Penn. If in fact she is dating Penn, she won't have to travel quite as far to see her new beau: She's agreed to pay $3.25 million for a four-bedroom "mini-mansion" in the Los Feliz section of Los Angeles. Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond have a new Upper West Side apartment to call home. The couple picked up a co-op at 300 West End Avenue for $3.4 million, substantially less than the asking price of $4.1 million. The fourth-floor apartment features four bedrooms, eat-in kitchen, living room with wood-burning fireplace, library, private elevator landing, and a view that includes "a peek of the river." • Good news for billionaire(?) Dan Loeb: His hedge fund may have seen better days, but he's $5.5 million richer now that he's successfully sold his carriage house at 7 MacDougal Alley to art gallery director Gordon Veneklasen. It's a tad less than the $7 million he was looking for back in October, but he still has that $45 million condo at 15 CPW, so you don't have to worry about Dan just yet. [Cityfile]
• So much for that rental at 40 Mercer: The Post now says the newly-engaged Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone may have picked up a 4,500-square-foot spread in the Robert A.M. Stern-designed Superior Ink development for $13 million. [NYP]
• Bruce Wilcox, an exec at Cumberland Associates, has put the townhouse at 125 East 62nd Street he bought for $8.5 million in 2005 on the market for $9.45 million. [Cityfile, Sotheby's]

LiLo Looks for a Buyer | It isn't clear she ever lived in the apartment—she may have just been gifted the pad as part of a publicity stunt by the building's developer—but Lindsay Lohan's former apartment at the Atelier on West 42nd Street is up for sale for $1.2 million. The listing says LiLo "put 100K worth of the finest upgrades into this apartment." Alas, no word on what these "upgrades" were specifically, but feel free to use your imagination. [Curbed] 

• Kelsey Grammer is once again looking for a buyer for his 8,000-square-foot house in Bridgehampton. Grammer listed the seven-bedroom home last year for $15.9 million before taking it off the market when he didn't get an offer. It's now up for sale for $13.9 million. [Newsday, Sotheby's]
• Mike McNamara, the CEO of Flextronics International, and his wife Deborah, have dropped the price of their apartment at the Plaza. Previously listed for $12.5 million, the three-bedroom abode is now on the market for $10.9 million. [Cityfile, Stribling]
