Ali Wise's Defenders Return Fire

146621According to the Post, ex-publicist/alleged hacker Ali Wise doesn't have too many friends these days:

Pals of former Dolce & Gabbana mouthpiece Ali Wise -- who used her access to designer swag to leverage friendships on both coasts -- are rushing from her side like rats from a sinking ship after she was charged with hacking into female rivals' voice mails.

But clearly not all of Ali's pals are jumping ship. An unidentified friend sent along these thoughts on the case last night:More

Salman Strikes Back

146563• Yesterday, Broadway actress Pia Glenn slammed Salman Rushdie, saying her ex-boyfriend was "dysfunctional" and was still obsessed with his ex-wife, Padma Lakshmi. Today, it's Rushdie's turn to hit back. Not has he "long ago turned the page and moved on" from Lakshmi, he says, he would also like you to know that Glenn is "a large, radioactive bucket of stress," "an accomplished liar," and also happens to be "broke and unemployed." So we're guessing a reconciliation is totally out of the question here? [P6]
• Expect to see an angry video by Tricia Walsh-Smith posted to YouTube any minute now. A state appeals court rejected the rage-filled divorcée's motion to undo her pre-nup to theater mogul Philip Smith yesterday. [P6]
• A California teenager has been charged with burglarizing Lindsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge's homes and making off with $170,000. [People, NYDN]
• Is Ali Wise's PR career over now that four women have accused her of voicemail hacking? That's what the Post suggests today, with a source telling the paper that "Wise is now radioactive in the industry." Then again, if there's anything we can learn from Lizzie Grubman's not-so-pretty past, it's that people who work in PR tend to be a very forgiving bunch. [NYPMore

LiLo's Stumble; Salman's Regrets

146518• Lindsay Lohan is having another bad week. At the Whitney Museum of Art Gala last night, the "jelly-legged actress" had to hold on to a fence for "dear life" as she "stumbled out of the glitzy bash." But Mischa Barton was looking surprisingly put together, so that's good news, right? [Daily Mail, Sun]
• It's been a few years since Salman Rushdie and Padma Lakshmi split up, but the author is still obsessed with his ex-wife and talks about her "day and night," says Rushdie's most recent girlfriend, Broadway actress Pia Glenn. She also says Rushdie broke things off with her via email and may have been just using her for sex. [P6]
• Ali Wise, the socialite/ex-Dolce & Gabbana publicist who appeared in court yesterday on charges she hacked into a rival's phone, won't have to mount her defense until January. But there are four women now claiming Wise broke into their voicemail accounts now, not just one. [NYDN] More

Ali Wise Gets More Time to Work on Her Defense

146513

If you'd marked down October 19 as the day when socialite/publicist Ali Wise would finally appear in court to face charges she allegedly hacked into another socialite's voicemail earlier this year, please note that the prosecutors asked for a little more time to prepare their case today and the judge adjourned it to January 14, 2010. See you then!

Ali Wise Returns to Fashion Week | Ali Wise, the socialite/ex-Dolce & Gabanna publicist accused of hacking into the voicemail of interior designer Nina Freudenberger, hasn't been completely MIA since her arrest back in July. But she has been keeping a lower profile in recent weeks, supposedly because she's been looking to "protect her supportive parents from public humiliation," according to Page Six magazine. She made an exception on Friday, though, when she turned up at the Fashion Week show of her good friend Charlotte Ronson hidden behind dark sunglasses. (Somewhat ironically, she held up a copy of The Daily with the headline "How You Cope!" for a passing photographer.) A couple of photos of Wise's return to Fashion Week below:More

Ali and Lindsay Compare Notes | It's been a few weeks since we've heard anything about Ali Wise, our favorite computer-hacking, Kabbalah-loving, former publicist who says she's "taking the summer off" to concentrate on "new projects." But we were pleased to see her put in an appearance at the Inglorious Basterds premiere the other night. And we were even more pleased to see her in the company of her good friend Lindsay Lohan. If you're navigating the criminal justice system and dealing with defense attorneys, you might as well get a bit of advice from an expert, right? [GoaG]

Ali Wise Plots Her Comeback | Fallen publicist Ali Wise didn't get fired from Dolce & Gabbana. She's "taking the summer off." Naturally! But she already has "new projects" planned for the fall. So don't count her out just yet! [Twitter]

Ali Wise Gets the Boot

143646Ali Wise, the publicist and social fixture accused of hacking into another socialite's voicemail, is going to have plenty of time to work on her defense from now on. WWD reports today that Wise is longer employed by Dolce & Gabbana. (Unfortunately, the fashion house wouldn't "elaborate" on her departure, so we don't know the specifics.) Don't think she's sitting at home watching bad television and eating ice cream, though. Judging by the number of exclamation points, it seems like she was in a pretty good mood last night when she headed out to attend the Pete Yorn concert. [WWD]

Ali Wise Gets Spiritual | Fallen publicist Ali Wise is tweeting again. But now things have taken a turn for the worse. Judging by her latest message, she seems to be taking spiritual guidance from Rabbi Yehuda Berg, the director of the cult known as the Kabbalah Centre. But, hey, you never know. Maybe she'll get lucky and her $26 investment will put an end to those "unfriendly stares and unkind glances" she's been getting. It's worth a shot! [Twitter]

Ali Wise Returns to the Net | Publicist and social fixture Ali Wise hasn't said anything publicly since she was arrested a couple of weeks ago for allegedly hacking into the voicemail account of interior designer Nina Freudenberger. It's probably Wise's lawyer who has been urging her to keep quiet. Because she just resurfaced on Twitter. And judging by the crypic tweets she's been sending out, she has a few things she'd like to get off her chest:More

The Socialite Crime Wave of Summer '09

Ali Wise won't go down as the only member of the social set to spend time in handcuffs this month. Jules Kirby, the "champagne-swilling" party girl and perennial favorite on blogs like Park Avenue Peerage and Guest of a Guest—and ex-girlfriend of Nevan Donahue, Olivia Palermo's layabout cousin from The City—was arrested in Southampton over July 4th weekend. For attempting to steal an American flag. By the way, did we mention it was July 4th weekend?More

Who Doesn't Want a Reality TV Show?

Fabiola Beracasa isn't the only social butterfly looking for a little reality TV stardom. (She may be the only one with an actual deal in hand, though.) Fashion Week Daily dropped the news this afternoon that Tinsley Mortimer approached the CW recently about hosting a show about "life as a socialite divorcée"—and the CW passed! (Au contraire, says the Tinz; various networks have been approaching her about doing something, but she's been forced to turn them all down because she values her privacy.) More

Stacey Bendet Demands Justice | Dolce & Gabbana publicist Ali Wise is facing a few felony charges for allegedly hacking into the voice mail of interior designer Nina Freudenberger. And there appear to be other victims of Wise's electronic crime spree, including a fashion designer named Briana Rasinski, according to today's Post. But Wise has at least one friend who's got her back: Stacey Bendet, the founder of alice + olivia. Judging by her comments, we're going to go ahead and assume that Freudenberger will not be asked to design the next home that Bendet and her husband Eric Eisner move into:More
